Comments In spite of the impressive beauty of Gupta gold coins, there are relatively few sites dedicated in particular to this splendid series. Museums holding important Gupta coin collections are lagging behind in offering digital visuals for them. The Shivlee collection is to be congratulated for enabling a close encounter with the opulence of Gupta numismatic design.

Comments I am delighted to visit the Shivlee website for Gupta Coins. The website is truly of international standard with the emphasis on complete catalogue of Gupta coins with beautiful illustrations from the Shivlee Collection. The Catalogue is planned according to the chronology of the Gupta Monarchs and within that each and every type and their sub-varieties are arranged with necessary description. The Shivlee Collection is important in a number of ways: First of all, it’s the largest group of original Bayana Hoard coins in a private collection; secondly, it has best preserved specimens of coins like the Kachagupta coin with complete obverse legend and ½ Dinar of Chandragupta II; and some of the exquisite coins of the Great Guptas who not only portray the zenith of numismatic art but also the height of culture in India as early as 4th century AD. I congratulate Mr. Sanjeev Kumar of the Shivlee Trust for forming this incredible collection and making it available to the world at large for study and admiration. Thanks a lot, and keep it up.

Comments ABSOLUTELY A FANTASTIC COLLECTION. Thank you for sharing these coins. To have the chance to view such an extensive and complete collection first hand is truly a treat. I have been following the Indian Numismatics for about 20 years and have never seen such a complete collection with such rarities. One of the truly RARE coin is the King Kumaragupta I Parasol Type (also referred to as the Chattra Type). I have NEVER seen one of these come up for sale EVER. What a treat to see it !! Keep it up and PLEASE keep the collection open for viewing. With Kind Regards, John
